How Breeding Works in Palworld 1.0

Breeding starts at Level 19 once you unlock the Breeding Farm — place one male and one female Pal inside, drop in a Cake to trigger breeding, then hatch the egg in an Egg Incubator. The calculator above looks up the exact result for any pair automatically.

What Changed in Palworld 1.0 Breeding

Palworld 1.0 rewrote large parts of the breeding result table. If you learned combos before July 10, 2026, treat that knowledge as outdated. Here's what's different:

  • Old combos now hatch different children Pairs like Penking + Bushi no longer produce Anubis — that combo now hatches Sibelyx instead.
  • Mutation A small chance any bred egg hatches stronger, with an exclusive Mutation-only passive. See Mutation Odds →
  • Awakening A separate system using Radiant Gems to push a bred Pal's stats past its normal cap.
  • Legendaries are now same-species-only Orserk, Grizzbolt, Lyleen, Faleris, Jetragon, Frostallion, Necromus, Paladius, and Shadowbeak no longer breed from two different species.

Best Breeding Combos — By Goal

"Best" depends on what you're optimizing for — cheapest parents, fastest route, or strongest passives. Pick your goal on the full combinations page.

Cheapest Parents

Common, low-rarity Pals — easiest setup, least effort.

Fewest Generations

Shortest path to your target Pal from what you own.

Highest Passive Potential

Parents that already carry the passives you want.

Breed for Passive Skills — Not Just Species

Most breeding calculators only tell you what species you'll get — not whether your Pal will actually be useful. Pick up to four passive skills you're building toward, and find the exact parent pairs that give you the best odds.

IV & Hidden Stat Inheritance

Species and passives aren't the only things that carry over from parent to child — every Pal also has hidden stat values (IVs) for HP, Attack, and Defense that determine how close to its true maximum potential it can grow. No other breeding calculator currently accounts for this. Here's how it works, and a way to estimate your odds if you already know your parents' numbers.

How IV Inheritance Works

Every Pal has three hidden IV values — HP, Attack, and Defense — each a percentage from 1% to 100% that's fixed the moment it's caught or hatched, but invisible until you check it with Ability Glasses. These IVs quietly affect the Pal's real stat ceiling: two Pals of the same species and level can perform noticeably differently in combat or work speed purely because of IV differences you can't see without checking.

When breeding, each stat is rolled independently, using the same three-way split every time: a 30% chance it inherits from Parent 1's IV for that stat, a 30% chance it inherits from Parent 2's IV, and a 40% chance it ignores both parents entirely and rolls a fresh random value between 1% and 100%. This roll happens separately for HP, Attack, and Defense — so a child could inherit its HP from Parent 1, its Attack from Parent 2, and get a completely random Defense roll, all in the same egg.

Because there's always a 40% random-roll chance per stat, even two parents with perfect 100% IVs across the board can't guarantee a perfect child — they just meaningfully improve the odds compared to breeding from wild-caught Pals with unknown, likely-mediocre IVs.

Estimator model

Each stat is treated independently: 30% copies Parent 1's IV, 30% copies Parent 2's IV, and 40% is a uniform random roll from 1–100. For the random path, the success share is (101 − target) / 100. The all-three estimate multiplies the HP, Attack, and Defense probabilities together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this breeding calculator updated for Palworld 1.0?

Yes — every combination on this page reflects Palworld 1.0 data (287 Pals, released July 10, 2026), including the new Mutation and Awakening mechanics. Check the trust bar at the top of the page for the exact last-verified date.

What changed in Palworld 1.0 breeding?

Several familiar parent pairs now produce different children than before, and a group of legendary Pals can no longer be bred from two different species — you'll need to catch or hatch one first, then breed it same-species-only from there.

How does passive skill inheritance work in Palworld?

Both parents' passives combine into one shared pool, then the child rolls how many it inherits — typically 1 to 4, weighted toward fewer. Any empty slots left over can be filled with a random passive the parents didn't even have. Keeping the parent pool "clean" — only the passives you actually want — gives you the best odds.

What's the fastest way to breed popular Pal?

It depends on what you already own. Search the target Pal in the Breeding Tree & Chain Planner above, and it'll show the shortest path from your current roster — sometimes a direct pair, sometimes a multi-generation chain through an intermediate Pal.

Does gender matter when breeding Pals?

Yes, always — you need one male and one female in the Breeding Farm regardless of species. For a small number of pairs, which parent is male vs. female also changes which child you get; those cases are flagged directly in the calculator results.

What is Mutation in Palworld 1.0?

A small chance, on any bred egg, that the hatched Pal comes out stronger than the normal result — boosted stats plus an exclusive Mutation-only passive. The base chance sits around 1% per egg; using an Extravagant Vegetable Cake raises that to roughly 3%.

What is Awakening and how is it different from breeding?

Awakening is a separate system introduced in 1.0 — using Radiant Gems from the World Tree region to push an already-bred Pal's stats past its normal cap. It doesn't affect what species or passives you get from breeding; it's typically the next step once you've bred the Pal you actually wanted.

Can Legendary Pals be bred from other species?

Not anymore, as of 1.0 — with Anubis as the main exception, which still breeds from two non-legendary parents. The rest are same-species-only now.
