How to Breed Pals in Palworld

Breeding in Palworld allows players to pass down elite passive skills, produce ultra-rare fusion variants, and hatch high-tier Legendary Pals without searching the wild. By combining a Male and Female Pal inside a Breeding Farm and supplying Cake, your Pals will produce a Breeding Egg that can be hatched using an Egg Incubator.

While the general mechanics remain simple, every Pal follows a precise mathematical Breeding Power calculation or specific parent overrides. Using a targeted guide ensures you choose the correct parent pairing on your very first try without wasting valuable resources.

How Does Breeding Work in Palworld?

Step 1 — Build a Breeding Farm

Unlock the Breeding Farm at Level 19 in your Technology Tree. Construct it using 100 Wood, 20 Stone, and 50 Fiber inside your base boundaries.

Step 2 — Choose a Male and Female Pal

Assign one Male Pal and one Female Pal to the Breeding Farm by picking them up and tossing them into the structure until the UI confirms assignment.

Step 3 — Add Cake

Place at least 1 Cake into the Wooden Box attached to the Breeding Farm fence. The breeding process will pause immediately if the box runs out of cake.

Step 4 — Wait for the Breeding Egg

Allow the love progress bar to complete. Once finished, a Breeding Egg will drop in the center of the pen and 1 Cake will be consumed.

Step 5 — Incubate the Egg

Move the egg into an Egg Incubator. Maintain optimal surrounding thermal conditions (heaters for Fire eggs, coolers for Ice eggs) to accelerate hatch times.

How Do You Choose the Right Parents?

The offspring in Palworld isn't determined randomly. The game averages the hidden numerical power of both parent Pals to select the closest match, unless a specific override exists.

Common Palworld Breeding Mistakes

Wrong combination: Assuming two rare parents yield another rare Pal without checking the Breeding Database first.

Cake timer issues: Running out of cake midway, which pauses egg production completely. Review the Breeding Cake Guide to streamline farming.

Special overrides: Attempting to breed special variants using normal power calculations instead of checking Unique Breeding Combinations.

Breeding Power confusion: Believing parent level or gender impacts child species selection. Gender only matters for assigning pairs; consult the Breeding Power Guide.
