How to Breed Pals in Palworld
Breeding in Palworld allows players to pass down elite passive skills, produce ultra-rare fusion variants, and hatch high-tier Legendary Pals without searching the wild. By combining a Male and Female Pal inside a Breeding Farm and supplying Cake, your Pals will produce a Breeding Egg that can be hatched using an Egg Incubator.
While the general mechanics remain simple, every Pal follows a precise mathematical Breeding Power calculation or specific parent overrides. Using a targeted guide ensures you choose the correct parent pairing on your very first try without wasting valuable resources.

How Does Breeding Work in Palworld?
Step 1 — Build a Breeding Farm
Unlock the Breeding Farm at Level 19 in your Technology Tree. Construct it using 100 Wood, 20 Stone, and 50 Fiber inside your base boundaries.
Step 2 — Choose a Male and Female Pal
Assign one Male Pal and one Female Pal to the Breeding Farm by picking them up and tossing them into the structure until the UI confirms assignment.
Step 3 — Add Cake
Place at least 1 Cake into the Wooden Box attached to the Breeding Farm fence. The breeding process will pause immediately if the box runs out of cake.
Step 4 — Wait for the Breeding Egg
Allow the love progress bar to complete. Once finished, a Breeding Egg will drop in the center of the pen and 1 Cake will be consumed.
Step 5 — Incubate the Egg
Move the egg into an Egg Incubator. Maintain optimal surrounding thermal conditions (heaters for Fire eggs, coolers for Ice eggs) to accelerate hatch times.
How Do You Choose the Right Parents?
The offspring in Palworld isn't determined randomly. The game averages the hidden numerical power of both parent Pals to select the closest match, unless a specific override exists.
What Do You Want to Do?
Find Parents for a Specific Pal
Look up every exact parent pair that creates your target offspring.
Find the Child from Two Parents
Input any two parents to calculate the predicted egg offspring instantly.
Plan a Multi-Generation Breeding Path
Chain multiple breeding steps from low Pals up to high-tier legendaries.
Breed Desired Passive Skills
Calculate probability odds of passing down Legend, Swift, or Ferocious.
Check Special Breeding Combinations
View fixed special pairings like Relaxaurus + Sparkit = Grizzbolt.
Understand Breeding Eggs

Popular Pals to Breed
Players prioritize specific high-tier combat, fast mount, or base automated Pals. The most frequently searched breeding chains include:
Breeding Farm, Cake and Eggs — Quick Reference
Breeding Farm
Requires 100 Wood, 20 Stone, and 50 Fiber. Must be placed completely inside base limits. Houses 1 Male and 1 Female.
Cake
Baked using a Cooking Pot or Electric Kitchen. Recipe requires: 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs, and 2 Honey. Never spoils inside the Breeding Box.
Breeding Eggs
Varies in size (Common, Large, Huge) depending on the child species power tier. Higher tiers take longer incubation timers.
Egg Incubation
Incubation speed scales directly with ideal ambient heat/cool balance. Surround incubators with Campfires or Coolers accordingly.
Normal Breeding vs Special Breeding
| Feature | Normal Breeding | Special Breeding |
|---|---|---|
| Calculation Method | Average Breeding Power score of both parents | Fixed hardcoded developer overrides |
| Flexibility | Hundreds of flexible combinations result in the same child | Strict exact parent pairings required |
| Examples | Grizzbolt + Relaxaurus = Astegon | Mossanda + Grizzbolt = Grizzbolt (Variant/Special) |

• Wrong combination: Assuming two rare parents yield another rare Pal without checking the Breeding Database first.
• Cake timer issues: Running out of cake midway, which pauses egg production completely. Review the Breeding Cake Guide to streamline farming.
• Special overrides: Attempting to breed special variants using normal power calculations instead of checking Unique Breeding Combinations.
• Breeding Power confusion: Believing parent level or gender impacts child species selection. Gender only matters for assigning pairs; consult the Breeding Power Guide.
