What Is a Breeding Path in Palworld?
A breeding path is the sequence of Pal pairings needed to get from the Pals you own to a specific target Pal. Some target Pals have a direct path, while others need a multi-step path, where you first breed an intermediate Pal. The shortest breeding path is simply the route with the fewest total breeding steps.
Why Some Pals Are Only Obtained Through Intermediate Breeding
Not every Pal has a parent combo that produces it directly. Palworld's system calculates a child's species based on hidden Breeding Power values. Rarer or higher-tier Pals almost always require a multi-step path because their Power values don't sit close enough to any common pairing.

Every Pal carries a hidden Breeding Power value. The game averages them: Child Power = floor((Parent A + Parent B + 1) ÷ 2). The egg hatches into the species with Breeding Power closest to that number. Variants and legendaries skip this for fixed pairs.
